Itinerary

Day 1- Transfer from the airport to the accommodation – 30 minutes

As soon as you arrive at Cesária Évora Airport, our driver and guide will be there to welcome you to the island of São Vicente and arrange your transfer to your accommodation. You will have the afternoon free to rest or, if you wish, to take a stroll around the city.

In the evening, around 7:30 PM, our driver will pick you up from your accommodation for dinner at one of the best restaurants on the island. In addition to enjoying a delicious dinner, you will have the opportunity to experience a live traditional music show in a very welcoming environment. In the end, our driver will take you back to your accommodation.

Day 2-  Hiking to Dona Amelia Lighthouse + Snorkeling with turtles

Duration: 1,5- 2 hours 

  Our guide  and driver will pick you up at your accommodation at 9 a.m.  
As soon as you arrive at the starting point of the hike to the lighthouse, our guide will provide a safety briefing and will share relevant information about its history and its importance.
You will be amazed by the landscape, which is arid, however it offers spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean and the rugged coastline of São Vicente.In addition to being able to explore the area surrounding the lighthouse and admire the building, you will be rewarded with panoramic views of 360 degrees stretching to the horizon, as well as the opportunity to take spectacular photographs.
Back at the starting point of the hike, you will have the opportunity to walk along the beautiful São Pedro beach, one of the most beautiful on the island. During this pleasant walk that takes you to meet the team responsible for snorkeling with the turtles, our guide will share with you information about the village and its local population.

Before starting the snorkeling activity, the team will conduct a safety briefing and also share relevant information about the turtles.
Have your camera ready to capture this magical moment worthy of being remembered and shared with those you love the most.

In the end, you will be taken to a small but cozy restaurant, where you will have the opportunity to taste and delight in the famous rich cachupa. Cachupa is much more than a dish, it is a symbol of the cultural identity of Cape Verde. It is a tasty dish, made from corn, beans and a variety of vegetables, and meats, is a dish that unites families and communities.

Professional Guidance: Our experienced guide will provide you all the information about the lighthouse including its history and importance. 

Hiking additional information:

• Distance: Approximately 6 km (round trip)

• Starting point: Santo André beach at the village of São Pedro

• Duration of the hiking:  About 1 h 45 mn-2h( depending on pace and conditions).

• Difficulty: Moderate 

• Type:  Coastal trail with sections in cliffs and stairways

• Best time to hike: Early morning to avoid the intense midday sun 

• Very Important: It is highly recommended to request the services of a local guide. 

• Car ride: from  accommodation to the start point of the hiking  and back to accommodation.

Tips and Recommendations:

• Wear comfortable footwear suitable for hiking on uneven terrain.
• Bring enough water, as there are no water sources along the route.
• Protect yourself from the sun with sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses.

VERY IMPORTANT: It is highly recommended to hire a local guide, for your safety, and to be provided with relevant information about the island.
