Hiking Monte Verde on the island of São Vicente
Monte Verde is the highest point on the island of São Vicente, with 750 meters of altitude.
The hike, in addition to being rewarding, is a great option for hiking lovers to explore the natural beauty of the island and enjoy the panoramic and breathtaking views of the island.
The hike usually starts at the base of Monte Verde and takes about 2 hours to climb. The trail winds through the mountain, offering different levels of difficulty.
From the top of Monte Verde, you’ll have 360° panoramic views of the island of São Vicente.
In addition to seeing the path taken to reach the top of the mountain, it is possible to see the city of Mindelo, the coastal beaches and, on clear days, the neighboring islands of Santo Antão, São Nicolau, Santa Luzia, and the Raso and Branco Islets.

When you arrive at Monte Verde, you will have the opportunityto meet our friend Mr. Miguel. He is one of the small local entrepreneurs in the tourist business, and is the owner of the famous Monte Verde Tea Hut. While you take in the stunning view, enjoy and taste the local drinks such as tea or coffee. If you want something stronger, ask for a grog, which will be a great help if you are a little windy and cold.

- Protect yourself from the sun with sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses.
